Background

About Bernard McDonald

I am a Data Scientist with a strong foundation in Computer Science and Mathematical Statistics, specialising in the development and deployment of machine learning risk models in the financial sector. With proficiency in SAS, Python, SQL, Hadoop, Linux, and cloud technologies, I focus on developing scalable, maintainable data solutions that drive data-driven decision-making and optimise business outcomes. My work involves developing end-to-end systems for model development, deployment, and monitoring. These systems have significantly shortened model development timelines, improved the accuracy of performance reporting, and enhanced the overall efficiency of managing a complex decisioning engine that integrates multiple models, including application scorecards, behavioural scorecards, and collections models. Passionate about problem-solving and continuous learning, I thrive in collaborative environments and am committed to applying innovation to solve complex challenges. As a manager, I have the privilege to help develop, share, and promote a vision to both my team members and our stakeholders, to align our efforts and ultimately inform a wide range of accurate, data-driven decisions throughout the credit lifecycle.I also build cool tools to help manage personal finance!
