About Beth Leatherwood

My work centers on something I care deeply about: creating school cultures where teachers feel valued, supported, and able to do the work they were called to do. My doctoral research focused on teacher retention—specifically how autonomy, administrative support, and intentional leadership practices (including stay interviews) directly shape whether teachers stay, grow, and thrive in their schools.Across my career in both public and private education, I’ve learned that strong schools aren’t built on programs—they’re built on people. Supporting students starts with supporting the adults who teach them. When teachers are trusted, empowered, and given space to bring their expertise to the table, everything about a school improves: culture, climate, student achievement, and overall stability.I’m drawn to roles where I can blend research, leadership, and hands-on problem-solving—whether that’s designing meaningful programs, strengthening school culture, coaching colleagues, or improving systems so teachers can do their best work. I thrive in environments that value collaboration, honest communication, and forward-thinking leadership.Titles are secondary to impact. I’m at my best when I’m part of a team that values growth, trust, and purpose—where I can contribute meaningfully, support others, and help create the kind of school culture where both teachers and students flourish.
