About Bill Gustoff

Bill is President of the Legal Division at Thompson & Associates, a Nashville-based company that works with nonprofit organizations to provide planned giving services and lead select supporters through a personalized, comprehensive values-based estate planning process. In addition to his full-time duties with Thompson & Associates, Bill maintains a limited private practice as a partner of Hagenow & Gustoff, LLP, where he is the managing partner. His practice is primarily in the areas of nonprofit organization law, estate planning, campaigns and elections, government relations. Bill has worked as an attorney in the areas of estate planning, family business transactions, and related areas, including nearly four years as General Counsel of a church-based national nonprofit organization dedicated to estate planning and planned giving. Bill is a Fellow in Charitable Estate Planning (FCEP) from the Institute of Charitable Estate Planning (ICEP), and also the Dean and a member of the ICEP faculty. He speaks at locations around the country for both professional and nonprofessional groups on estate planning and nonprofit organization topics. He has also written several articles and brochures on such topics. In addition to being a member of the Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska State Bar Associations, Bill is also a past President of the Mid-Iowa Planned Giving Council and a member of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners), National Association of Canadian Charitable Gift Planners, International Association of Advisors in Philanthropy, and the Christian Legal Society. Bill currently serves on the Nonprofit Corporation Committee of the Business Law Section for the Iowa State Bar Association, and is a past President of Habitat for Humanity of Iowa.
