Background
About Brad Hutchison
I am currently a J.D. candidate at Tulane University Law School in my 1L year. I am an active member of the Sports Law Society and Entertainment Law Society, and this fall, I have been chosen through an intra-school competition to take part in the Tulane Entertainment Negotiation Competition (Nov 13–14), further developing my skills at the intersection of entertainment, arts, and the law — a space I’m passionate about pursuing professionally. Additionally, I was selected as a writer for The Sports Lawyer Newsletter, contributing to its monthly edition and gaining valuable experience in analyzing and communicating legal issues within the sports industry. Lastly, I am a research assistant for the Director of the Sports Law Program, Gabe Feldman, and help with guest research, outreach, and content development for the SportsWise Podcast. During my undergraduate studies at Sacred Heart University, I earned my degree in Broadcast Journalism, graduating magna cum laude. Throughout my time there, I immersed myself fully in campus life — serving as a three-year Orientation Leader, participating actively in the theatrical program, and being recognized with multiple Student Life Awards for leadership and involvement. One of my most memorable experiences was interviewing Gaten Matarazzo in front of the university community, an opportunity that deepened my passion for storytelling and performance. Beyond academics, I embraced every opportunity to learn and lead, both inside and outside the classroom. After graduation, I spent a year as a long-term substitute teacher and youth theatre director, where one of my proudest achievements was directing a high school production of Mamma Mia! — an experience that combined creativity, mentorship, and collaboration in ways that continue to shape my professional outlook today. Originally from Rhode Island and now based in New Orleans, I’m eager to connect with professionals, mentors, and organizations that share my enthusiasm for the evolving relationship between entertainment and the law.
