About Brenda Blais

A caregiver and tireless advocate to her core, Brenda is a compassionate source of support and energy for those offering care to a family member who has a disability or complex medical needs. After having worked in health care administration for 14 years and being a life-long caregiver, Brenda has a deep understanding of the complexities of care and how systems work. She uses her gained insight, wisdom, and knowledge to guide patients, caregivers, and health care organizations alike to work collaboratively in order to meet their collective needs. Brenda has a background and education in health care and medical office administration along with certifications in Family Engagement in Research, Patient Advocacy, Peer Health System Navigation, Powerful Tools for Caregivers(TM), Life Coaching, and Caregiver Consulting. Brenda grew up in a world of caregiving before she even knew what that meant. She helped to support her older sibling with a disability and continues to provide remote support for that sibling to this day. She also remotely cared for her aging parents and was their primary advocate until they passed away several years ago. Brenda's deepest passion, meaning, and purpose for caregiving though comes from caring for her own daughter for over 29 years who had multiple disabilities and was extremely medically complex all of her life. Brenda's daughter was the epitome of light, love, and joy, even in the most difficult moments of her life and even though she could not express herself verbally. Brenda's mission is carry forward her daughter's legacy of light, love, and joy to inspire all stakeholders to support caregivers and those they care for to live their best lives to their highest potential. Brenda is beyond grateful for the lessons that caregiving has, and continues, to teach her. Although Brenda's parents and her daughter are no longer with us, she continues to carry her passion forward in helping all stakeholders (caregivers, health care organizations, and governments alike) to embrace and inspire each other to work collaboratively so that caregivers can feel safe, visible, heard, and valued as care partners on health teams.
