About Brendan Smith

I currently study as a Master's student in Data Analytics Engineering, as well as working as a Lead Teacher at The Robo Hub, a K-12 extracurricular STEM program for advanced students in the Cambridge area. My current fields of study are Statistics, Probability, and Python for applications in Data Analytics. My main skills are Data Analytics, Python, Statistical Hypothesis Testing, Formal Logic and Proofs-Based Mathematics, Epistemology and Philosophy of Science, as well as a strong background in Physics (particularly electronic and quantum). I am also an accomplished writer and Humanities scholar, through my undergraduate major in Philosophy. My research topics have mainly been in the intersection of the sciences and humanities. My undergraduate Senior Thesis,"A History of Causality from Heraclitus to Hume", concerned the emergence of mathematical physics from Aristotelian natural philosophy in the 17th century, with a focus on Cartesian "mechanical philosophy" and Isaac Newton's Principia Mathematica. I also have a strong understanding of French, as I undertook the first-ever translation (from French to English) of the introduction to Jean-Baptiste Le Rond d’Alembert’s "Recherches sur la précession des équinoxes et sur la nutation de l'axe de la terre dans le système newtonien", a key text in the acceptance of Newtonian physics on the European continent.
