People need three things to change their behavior.1. They need to feel the need or desire to change. They need to understand what specific actions they need to perform. They need a system, process, or both that makes performing those specific actions the path of least resistance.My entire career as an instructional designer, sales enablement professional, curriculum designer, trainer, learning and development manager, e-learning author, or insert your own job title here has been successful because of these three principles.How is that success measured? In dollars, perhaps? No. Dollars, Euros, Rupees, Reals, etc. are outcomes.Success is measured in the new behaviors adopted, bad practices abandoned, arguments not had because processes won the opinion fight before it began, in lives empowered, in messages from learners, LinkedIn articles posted, and titles never imagined under names on business cards.If you believe in a learning and development program that is more than videos played in the background while other work is being done.
