About Brian Corey

I am a lifelong martial artist and owner of Corey Family Martial Arts in Indian Trail, NC. I've used my professional experience as a public school teacher to create highly motivating programs that are life-changing for young people. In addition, I use my experiences and expertise in martial arts and childhood development to write articles and blogs that inform parents on issues like bullying, self-defense, behavior management, and how to motivate and reach kids! I now have a total of over 35 years of martial arts study, 10 years of public school classroom experience, and 17 years dedicated to teaching martial arts. Over that time I have received Teacher of the Year recognition and was presented with a Man of the Year Award at the World Head of Family Sokeship Council. Alongside the martial arts school, my wife and I also run "The Lipstick Pig"- a furniture refinishing business where we take old, dated, and sometimes broken wood furniture and turn them into reimagined pieces that become pride pieces for our client's homes. Our pieces have become highly sought after in the Charlotte area and continually have a waitlist of clients that commission us to recreate their dining tables, dressers, cabinetry, and living room furniture!
