About Brigitte Denton

I hold a Bachelor of Science and a Secondary Education Teaching Credential in Biological Sciences, as well as a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology. With over two decades of experience in K-12, community college, and outdoor education settings, I bring a strong foundation in teaching and leadership to every learning environment. Alongside my education career, I have over 25 years of experience in emergency medical services, wilderness, and rescue medicine. My background includes serving as a Los Angeles County Ocean Lifeguard, volunteering with search and rescue, working as an Advanced EMT on an ambulance, and providing medical care abroad in Africa. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I contributed to Mono County’s Emergency Operations Center, where I led a field-based team providing medical assessments and support to the local community. Today, I run Beyond Limits Education (BLE), where I’ve merged my dual passions for education and emergency medicine. BLE offers first aid/CPR, EMS, and wilderness medicine training, as well as educational consulting and instructional design services across disciplines. I began integrating educational technology early in my career and have since developed deep expertise with a range of learning management systems and authoring tools. Motivated to strengthen this skill set, I earned a master's degree focused on applying Cognitive Load Theory and Experiential Learning Theory to the instructional design of hybrid stress inoculation training. I’m continuing this work through the development of a tiered hybrid EMS training program designed to expand access in rural regions. I’m also exploring a Doctorate in Education in Leadership and Innovation to further support equitable access to EMS education in underserved communities.
