About Brigitte Nitsch

For 25 years, I have been working as a senior lecturer and researcher in the field of social studies. I have been a consultant across diverse international projects in Europe and Asia. In various mountain areas, I supported tourism initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty and women empowerment. My focus centres on fostering inclusivity in destination management and developing tourism initiatives collaborating with local communities. I have been participating in several international higher education projects in the hospitality and tourism sector. Actively advocating for the integration of Sustainable Development Goals into strategic business plans and destination development during workshops and conferences, my research interests relate to rural studies, including agritourism, geotourism, inclusive and accessible tourism, always in relation to human rights. I enjoy visiting family and friends and taking care of my home garden and animals. In my free time I go out to the nature, visit restaurants/ hotels, read and watch movies, learn about new developments in regenerative tourism, explore different places and cultures or play the piano.
