About Brilliant Phalane

Brilliant Phalane is a true conservationist who is passionate about protecting the environment (Both biotic and Abiotic factors) and promoting sustainable utilization of resources. He obtained a National Diploma in Nature Conservation and an Advanced Diploma (Cum laude) in the same field of study. He has volunteered in a couple of NGO's where he gained valuable skills such as data capturing, communication and team management. He also embarked on a work integrated learning with Ezemvelo KZN wildlife,during this period he gained extensive knowledge and understanding of conservation management, environmental education, vegetation monitoring, alien plants control, fire management, game counts, report writing, administration, soil erosion control, law enforcement (patrols) and culling. Currently he is the Operations manager at WESSA uMngeni Valley environmental education centre and Nature Reserve where he plans and oversees the daily operations in the reserve (Culling, Invasive alien plants clearing, Bush-camps maintenance, road and trail maintenance, veld and soil erosion management) as well as managing the hospitality, security and maintenance team based at the reserve. Brilliant is also acting as a project manager for the Amanzi Ethu Nobuntu team as well as a base manager for the Working on fire crew at uMngeni Valley Nature Reserve.
