About Bruce Ralston

Bruce Ralston was sworn in as B.C.’s Minister of Forests and the Minister Responsible for the Consular Corps on Dec. His appointment follows his previous cabinet appointments, serving as Minister for Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation following his role as Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology. He was re-elected as MLA for Surrey-Whalley on May 9, 2017. Ralston was first elected as a Member of the Legislature in his home riding in 2005 and has served his community as MLA since that time. Ralston’s current focus is on revitalization of the forest sector, where First Nations are partners in forest management, and increased value is realized through expanded diversification in manufacturing. His priorities also include the sustainable management and conservation of B.C.’s old growth forests in the face of climate change and other pressures, while ensuring a competitive and sustainable future for communities, Indigenous Peoples, workers and companies. Ralston was born in Victoria and grew up in Vancouver. He has degrees in both history and law from the University of British Columbia and a degree in history from the University of Cambridge in England.
