Responsible for maintaining security of the facility both Courtside and Detention. • Responsible for ACA and DYS compliance standards. • Maintain key control inventory. • Manage and schedule staff of 25 daily. • Conducts/assists in new hire orientation, training and ongoing training of current officers. • Monitors functions of physical plant/property for maintenance. • Review all current policies/procedures/regulations and recommend changes as required. • 40hr. yearly training certification in Crisis Management, PREA, self-defense, substance abuse, report writing and mental health counseling. • Advise Superintendent of critical incidents, violations of policies and operational procedures. • Support Detention staff as needed to maintain effective/efficient operation of facility. • Manage public relation tours and educational programs. • Manage transportation of juveniles outside of facility. • Provide counseling and or administers critique of staff and inmates when necessary. • Evaluate juvenile behavior management techniques used by detention staff to ensure policy/procedure compliance. • Generate daily roster assignments for Detention Officers. • Implement, disseminate, teach and enforce updated policies, procedures, rules and regulations. • Verbal de-escalation techniques used to manage inmates during crisis situations.
