Background
About Bryant Micheal Serre
As a PhD candidate in Environmental and agricultural toxicology, and well-versed in a diversity-informed perspective in assessment and innovation, Bryant has collaborated on research with farmers, engineers, agricultural industry, multi-jurisdictional partners, Indigenous Communities and Band Councils, and chemical regulators. He has supported the successful delivery of several environmental innovation projects, securing over $15 million in funding with universities, research centers, and philanthropic partners. His technical expertise includes advancing methodologies of risk assessment, risk assessment in complex natural and regulatory environments, environmental consulting, and evaluating chemical mixtures impacts using industry-standard and novel toxicology methods. He has worked on improving on-farm nutrient timing and practices in Southern Ontario, developing circular waste reuse in both field and Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) systems, and repurposing harmful algal blooms into agricultural biostimulants and in algae bioreactors. Bryant effectively braids diverse knowledge and industry experiences in environmental assessment and agricultural innovation. As a recognized leader among peers, and experienced toxicology research project manager and research supervisor, his research interests are intentionally eclectic and broad. He is a cross-sector integrator, improving the rigour, environmental-representativeness, and diversity of knowledge brought forth in environmental innovation, whether it be landscape metrics used in pivotal land management decision-making, agricultural innovation, or soil and water ecotoxicology toxicity tests.
