Background
About Caleidgh Bayer
In August 2023, I completed my Master of Computer Science at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. My thesis, Evaluating Simple Reactive Agents in Visual Reinforcement Learning Tasks, applied Visual Reinforcement Learning to both Genetic Programming and Deep Q-Learning and their efficacy in a fully observable and partially observable task environment. During my time as a graduate student I contributed to three publications, and was the lead author on one of them. I also took courses in Natural Language Processing, Research Methods, and Genetic Programming (obviously). Furthermore, I was elected to be the Master of Computer Science Representative, and later the Treasurer of the Dalhousie Computer Science Graduate Society (CSGS). In addition to the standard duties of these roles, I also assisted as an organizer for the Dalhousie Computer Science In-House Conference (DCSI). I was a paper reviewer, and I was responsible for coordinating and organizing the keynote presentation. In addition, I spent several semesters as a Teaching Assistant for Systems Programming, an undergraduate computer science course that teaches students the C programming language. I contributed to the development and implementation of ten lab assignments, covering a wide range of topics including, but not limited to, data structure implementation, manual memory management, and multithreading. During my undergraduate, topics that I found interesting that were unfortunately outside the scope of my Master's degree include: CPU Architecture and Optimization, Theory of Computer Science, Game Theory, and User Interface Design. My hobbies include photography, training my two pet parrots, board games, and video games.
