Background

About Callum Watson

I am currently the gender coordinator and a programme manager at the Small Arms Survey. I manage gender-specific projects fostering linkages between small arms control and the Women, Peace and Security agenda in national and international processes. On the international level, I focus on the Programme of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons, the Arms Trade Treaty, the Global Framework on Ammunition and, to a lesser extent, the Firearms Protocol. On the national level, I have most recently working with Chile, Guyana, several ECOWAS Countries, Kenya and several Asia-Pacific Countries on efforts to implement and/or universalize international commitments or good practices related to small arms control and preventing and countering improvised explosive devices. I also support gender mainstreaming of the Survey's work more broadly. Specialities: Gender, masculinity, small arms, Security Sector Reform, national security policy-making, International Relations, Education, English as a Second Language, cross-cultural cooperation, Japan, Asia, the Arab World, the Japanese and French languages.
