About Calvin Ryerse

Calvin Ryerse (he/they) is a filmmaker, organizer, and student from Springdale, Arkansas. He's a senior at the Eugene Lang College of Liberal of Arts at the New School in New York City, majoring in Screen Studies and minoring in History and Film Production. He began producing historical documentaries in high school, competing in the National History Day Competition. Their films often circulate around the themes of politics, personal narrative storytelling, history, and the nature of change. He now works with Brooklyn-based documentary filmmaker Caveh Zahedi, producing and editing Caveh's acclaimed web-series The Show About the Show and podcast 365 Stories I Want to Tell You Before We Both Die. In the summer of 2021, Calvin also worked at the Tribeca Festival, facilitating virtual reality and augmented reality experiences. In high school, Calvin also helped build the international campaign and online magazine,#DearAdultWorld, which is a home for Gen-Z politically-minded artists and writers. The editorial staff of #DearAdultWorld, led by Calvin, gave two educational grants to activist-artists to continue their education and published dozens of pieces from around the world. In the fall of 2020, Calvin joined the Vote Common Good Wake Up, Speak Up, Stand Up National Bus Tour as a videographer and event organizer. He also was part of Beyond the Bomb's Spring 2021 Fellowship Program, and was subsequently rehired as a Summer 2021 Intern. When Calvin's not reading, writing, researching, shooting, or going on national bus tours to oppose the previous occupant of the White House, you can find him in the woods, romping around in a creek, and listening to George Harrison's All Things Must Pass.
