About Carl Brunius

I develop and apply tools for multivariate analysis of biological data from multiple OMICs disciplines primarily within the fields of computational nutrition & nutritional metabolomics. We are using metabolomics and other OMICs tools to investigate how metabolic regulation and health are affected by combined exposures from diet and microbiota. In my research group (the R Landberg Lab at Food and Nutrition Science, Chalmers) we have several short- and long-term dietary interventions ongoing. We are also involved in several prospective studies together with several Swedish and international cohorts. I also have ongoing collaborations with Umeå University for molecular markers of disease (Alzheimer's Disease and Colorectal cancer) and with Karolinska Institutet for mechanistic effects of PFAS exposure. I have developed algorithms to compensate for sub-optimal pre-analytical sample management in untargeted metabolomics (sampleDrift), cleanup of MS-based data to reduce within and between batch instrumental variations (batchCorr) and unbiased variable selection and validation schemes in multivariate modelling for improved unbiased prediction performance (MUVR).
