About Catharine Rowley

I’ve had a passion for illustration and drawing from an early age. While attending Mount Holyoke College, I spent a year of my studies abroad at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan. Immersed in the architecture and culture there increased my desire to explore the industry of visual art and design. Returning to the US, my senior year I studied anthropology while studying Japanese and upon graduation, I began a 15-month course studying 3D modeling and texturing along with animation. My full-time work began as a concept artist, developing and polishing character and environmental concepts under the direction of instructors and administration. My next project resulted in a long-standing freelance job with a nonprofit that involved many layers of approval and edits. Some of my artwork can be viewed here: A position as a 3D Production Intern for New Balance, Inc. was realized because of relationship building I had done in my previous work. I was responsible for creating high-poly 3D models based on 2D design concepts, as well as creating attractive, photo-realistic textures and materials. I quickly and accurately completed revisions to models based on feedback and design changes. I contributed original artwork for a line of children’s shoes and apparel released in 2018, and many other designs I worked on went into final production. As a Freelance 2D Illustrator and Graphic Designer, I have designed flyers, posters, and other advertisements for print and web, as well as book illustrations and concept artwork.
