About Catherine Barausse

I have the following skills and experiences; I began my Artistic career in the clothing industry, where designing and innovating were the requirements. After Qualifying at Durban Tech, 3 years later, I discovered that I possess the ability to visualize in 3 or 4 dimensions that which is represented on a single dimension. Six years of tough exposure to the commercial clothing industry, left me yearning to paint and be creative again, in my own right. I have always painted in oils, water colours, inks and acrylics as a private pastime, but not as my main form of income. For 20 years I became immersed in Energy Conservation and Water Resource Management with our family business, Energywise Systems (Pty) Ltd. Art is now my first priority. Over the years I have been tutored by various Artists, to mention a few of my mentors; Sandra Joubert ( Ceramics), Pascale Chandler, Shirley Howells and Dee Donaldson (oil painting). They have been extremely beneficial to my growth as an Artist. I am passionate about the human form in movement and the flow of energy in dance.
