About Catherine Casano

I am an experienced womenswear designer specializing in a soft and structured wovens, tailoring, embellishments, and knitwear for Contemporary and High-end brands like Nanette Lepore, Carlisle, Pearl by Marchesa and Yoana Baraschi. Working within domestic and overseas business models, I have managed design teams, sample rooms, brand licenses, worked on new product and line launches, and have extensive knowledge and experience in terms of product development and materials sourcing. I also love making costumes and have made several for videos and photoshoots for Bjork, Animal Collective, and more. I also worked from 2014-2022 as a full-time professor based in Philadelphia, teaching undergraduate and graduate fashion design courses while maintaining an active schedule of design freelance work for a variety of designers in the New York and Philadelphia area. At Thomas Jefferson (formerly Textiles/ Philadelphia University) our program consistently received ranking as one of the top fashion design programs in America. There, I achieved the rank of Associate Professor, teaching Senior Thesis Collection, Senior Portfolio, and graduate level lectures in the Fashion Design Management Program.
