Background
About Cecelia Jones
I have experience in broadcast journalism, public education and now administrative communications. In TV broadcasting, I have received extensive training from the best in the industry: collegiate professor and storyteller expert Fred Shook, mentor to NBC's Bob Dotson, and Magid Associates for news writing and storytelling skills. I learned how to tell a compelling story by putting great video with words. The best stories you can tell are from the heart of those who tell it, to the tiny details that can make a huge impact, such as the natural sounds you hear and the emotions you feel during the moment. When you incorporate all that into writing, you have a great story to tell! I am a former member of the NATAS Lonestar Emmy Chapter while working as a TV professional and served as a representative for small market TV, after receiving two Emmy nominations for my work in television. I have also received numerous Texas AP awards for best spot news, best investigative, and best general reporting. Then, after 10 years in news, I got this itch to do something different. I decided to leave TV to become a media teacher to some of the most amazing and talented students I have ever met. What I learned during my job is that being a teacher isn't about the content you teach, but realizing the potential in each student and providing those kids opportunities so they might be successful after high school. I have more than one student success story which makes me proud to know I helped them find their passion! I spent six years in the classroom and was completely content with my job when another opportunity led me to where I am today. I am working in communications for public schools. The switch has been challenging, yet rewarding, as I feel I have found my niche. I am a member of the Texas Schools Public Relations Association. I recently completed a unique program of study through TCU - the Bob Schieffer College of Communications Certified Public Communicator Program.
