Background
About Cecilia Botta
I manage and curate archives, cultural projects and exhibitions focused on the history of visionary brands and the information technology revolution. Since 2023 I manage "Memories" Team of Promemoria Group, a leading company in the reactivation of tangible and intangible historical heritages. In November 2011, less than a month after Steve Jobs’ death, I co-curated "Steve Jobs 1955-2011" for the Regional Museum of Regional Science in Turin. It was the first Italian exhibition dedicated to the Apple founder and was subsequently shown in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Brasilia (Brazil). In 2012 I curated the Temporary Museum in Turin, a museum in Italy dedicated to the Computer Revolution and its popularization sponsored and conceived by Marco Boglione. I collaborated with the production company Junk Food on the video library "8bit Generation" about the Silicon Valley computer revolution and co-authored the book "Bit Pop Revolution"(Hoepli Editore) on the history of Homebrew Computer Club in Silicon Valley. From 2007 until 2023, I directed the BasicGallery archive, a physical and digital archive for the BasicNet Group, which collects more than historical items from the Kappa, RDK, Superga, Sebago and K-Way brands, and a huge collection of artifacts from the history of computing owned by M. Boglione. Between 2019 and 2020, I curated the exhibition "Homage to the Computer Revolution" at the Cupertino Historical Society and Museum in Cupertino, California. A cultural insight dedicated to the story of visionaries and entrepreneurs who, between 1975 and 1985, transformed a technological-digital revolution into the greatest cultural revolution of all time. Since 2016, I have been a member of the 8bit Lab group, which has restored three Apple-1 computers (1976) and publicly boots up an Apple-1 once a year. In 2020, I curated the "MEC Museum" in Palermo, the first example in Italy of a Michelin star restaurant immersed in an exhibition space. The space, entirely dedicated to the computer revolution, is located on the main floor of the 16th-century Palazzo Castrone Santa Ninfa, with unrivaled views of Palermo Cathedral.
