About Chantele Barker

I am a dedicated and passionate professional with a wealth of experience teaching and supporting children and young people, particularly those facing challenges related to behaviour, exclusion and vulnerability. My strengths lie in my ability to connect with individuals, demonstrating relatability, confidence, empathy, and approachability—qualities that have helped me build strong, trusting relationships throughout my career. With a focus on providing tailored support, I utilise evidence-based approaches, including outreach, group work, targeted 1:1 interventions, mentoring and a variety of teaching and learning styles to meet the individuals needs of CYP. I am extremely passionate about high quality PSHE education, its crucial because it equips CYP with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to manage their lives, stay safe, make informed decisions, and thrive as individuals, and members of society, both now and in the future. This includes helping CYP to deal with critical issues they face every day such as friendships, emotional wellbeing and change. Providing them a solid foundation for whatever challenging opportunities lie ahead, so they can face a world full of uncertainty with hope. From making informed decisions about alcohol to succeeding in their first job, PSHE education helps CYP prepare for all the opportunities, challenges, life decisions and responsibilities they'll face. Having overcome my own youth challenges and having raised my own children, I deeply empathise with the struggles young people face today. My lived experiences allow me to connect on a personal level, and I believe in fostering open, transparent communication to build trust and provide meaningful support.
