About Charlie Guy

CHARLIE most recently served with World Vision Canada as the Interim Chief Marketing and Development Officer and for over 10 years as the Chief People Officer. Prior to this, he held the positions of Executive Director at International Child Care, and Partial Load Professor at Mohawk College. Charlie also had over 30 years with Bell, where he held a variety of senior management positions. He currently leads a consulting practice working with CareerJoy where he shares his broad leadership expertise with for profit and not for profit organizations. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team at World Vision he was responsible for providing interim stable supportive leadership to the Marketing and Development divisions. As the Chief People Officer, he developed strategies, processes and programs covering all aspects of human resource management. Charlie’s primary focus was to build World Vision’s people strategy, leadership capabilities and organizational systems to support the achievement of the corporate strategic plan. He was humbled that World Vision was recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers and a Top GTA Employer for nine and ten years, respectively. In addition, World Vision was twice recognized as one of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures in the Broader Public Sector. He is a highly energized leader with extensive experience in human resources, sales and customer service, corporate training, and adult education. He is skilled at coaching and mentoring and has a strong sense of commitment to personal values of integrity, excellence and continuous improvement. Charlie is a team builder and motivator with excellent leadership, communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills. Throughout his career he has fostered a change management culture, successfully leading major corporate and marketing restructuring projects and the transition of hundreds of employees. He can remain calm and maintain a sense of perspective in support of employee well-being in the midst of the most turbulent and challenging circumstances. Charlie is a lifelong learner and holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario, a BEd in Adult Education from Brock University, is a graduate of Rotman’s School of Management—Advanced Program in Human Resource Management and the Arrow Executive Leadership Program. He also holds the CHRE designation from the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA). Charlie is a sports enthusiast and remains active in his community coaching women’s slo-pitch baseball and serving as an SPN umpire.
