About Chelsea Purcell

Chelsea is a driven, self-motivated individual who has gained great confidence and leadership skills through playing sports and through her work experience. She started at University of Saskatchewan where she played 5 years for the U of S Women’s Huskies Hockey Team. Chelsea graduated with Great Distinction from the College of Kinesiology with a minor in Business/Entrepreneurship. Chelsea continued playing hockey in Edmonton and then on to Calgary, playing in the Canadian Women's Hockey League. She was a Personal Trainer for World Health Club in both cities. Chelsea relocated to Toronto where she took a Post Graduate course in Sport & Event Marketing at George Brown College. In 2016, Chelsea came back to the CWHL in the business side as an Assistant General Manager for the Brampton Thunder, prior to taking over as General Manager one year later. That summer, she relocated the Brampton Thunder to Markham where they won their first ever Clarkson Cup Championship! During her second season as GM, she was promoted to Director of Strategic Partnerships with the CWHL but on March 30, 2019 the league announced it would no longer continue operations. Chelsea stayed in the hockey world and worked with CCMC Sports, the sponsorship agency for the CHL, for four years. She helped manage the sales team, supports pitches, valuations, deck creation and communication with all stakeholders. With the creation of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) in 2019, Chelsea was brought on as a consultant to lead their sponsorship and grew the sales every year. In the summer of 2023, with the announcement of a new professional women's hockey league, Chelsea was brought on to lead the partnership team for both league and team level.
