Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is an underground fully mechanised & semi-automated mine with a monthly production of 90 The mining method is sublevel, narrow vein open stoping with pastefill. North Mara Gold Mine is also an underground fully mechanised & semi-automated mine with a monthly production of 120 The mining method is sublevel, longitudinal and trasverse open stoping with pastefill. There are 3 Open Pits in the North Mara mining lease, namely Gokona, Gena and Rama Open Pits. Rama Open Pit mine will be functional in 2022, with current geotechnical work involving slope monitoring and ground water management. As the Underground Regional Geotechnical Manager, I am responsible for all the geotechnical support services to the underground mining production teams. This includes leading the geotechical & hydrogeological teams at all Barrick Mines in Tanzania, providing innovative technical recommendations and upskilling of the Technical Team including Junior & Senior Engineers. As the Lead of the Geotechnical Department, my job involves sublevel open stope stability analysis, stope design using various empirical & numerical modelling techniques, backfill (pastefill and CAF) designs, raisebore stability analysis, ground support design & tunnel stability analysis amongst a variety of other duties.
