About Chris Poling
I am a life-long nature enthusiast whose love of botany started eight years ago when I went to a two-year forestry and landscape management vocational school in high school. My interests snowballed from there to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Biology at Kent State University with an emphasis in botany. During that time I worked for four years in the Kent State University Tom S. and Miwako K. Cooperrider Herbarium and for two seasons as a field biologist/botanist for Summit Metro Parks in Ohio. I have a deep passion for Ohio's natural heritage, in particular our native plants. I am known in my local community as that eccentric guy who loves to garden (exclusively with native plant species) and am often known to go on long-winded rants about how people need to stop mowing their yards and plant more native species in them. In my free time I love scouring our state's parks for state-listed plant species and hunting in the winter months.
