About Christopher Cameron

I am an enthusiastic educator and scholar in the field of English Language and Literature. I bring extensive teaching experience and academic expertise to every challenge. With my Ph.D. nearly completed, I have dedicated myself to teaching at the post-secondary level. My journey in academia began with my Master's degree at the University of Windsor, where I had the opportunity to study literature and language, culminating in a thesis titled "There and Back Again; Tolkien's Recovery of Englishness through Walking." The research project allowed me to showcase my skills with scholarship, but my time at Windsor also gave me the opportunity to teach for the first time, laying the foundation for my pedagogical approach. In my roles as Special Lecturer at the University of Waterloo and Professor at Conestoga College and George Brown College, I have had the opportunity to create engaging curricula while guiding students through the complexities of academic writing, rhetorical analysis, and communication studies. From introductory courses like "Introduction to Academic Writing" to specialized courses such as "Rhetoric and Popular Culture," I try to foster an environment of intellectual curiosity and collaborative learning, empowering students to find their own voice as they articulate themselves in academic contexts for the first time. My commitment to teaching excellence extends beyond the classroom, evidenced by my involvement in course development, mentorship, and academic support initiatives. Whether teaching hybrid, in-person, or remote courses, I've embraced innovative pedagogical approaches and digital tools to improve student engagement and outcomes. Looking ahead, I am excited to continue my work in teaching and scholarship, leveraging my teaching experience and academic background to help students become critical thinkers and effective communicators.
