About Ciara Devine

Experienced professional in the fields of education and Psychology with a BA in Psychology, Postgraduate Certificate in Statistics and PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from Trinity College Dublin. I am currently working as an Educational Development Specialist at the Health Products Regulatory Authority. My current role sits within the IncreaseNET EU-funded Joint Action Project, IncreaseNET (Work Package 5), the goal of which is to support capacity and competency building of the EU Medicines Regulatory Network (EMRN). I work as part of a learning and design team along with EMRN topic experts to develop technical training modules and courses for medicines assessors using e-learning methodology. This role brings together my knowledge and skills in learning theory, instructional design, universal design and cognitive science. Prior to joining HPRA, I worked in the Higher Education sector in Ireland for 8 years in roles including lecturer, programme manager and instructor. My areas of teaching specialisation included Cognitive Psychology, Biopsychology, Research Methods, Statistics and Academic Skill Development. Through my teaching practice I have gained considerable experience in the domains of blended learning, e-learning, instructional design, universal design for learning and authentic assessment. In my role as programme manager for undergraduate Psychology at Dublin Business School I managed the day to day running of Psychology programmes, provided leadership to programme team members, liaised with wider teams to enhance student support services, implemented quality assurance measures and led programmatic review to inform the successful redesign and revalidation of our QQI programmes.
