About Claus S.

I am a Senior Naval Architect with a background in vessel and floating structure design, structural analysis, class compliance and lifecycle integrity. My experience covers early‑stage design and the operational phase, where maintenance, inspection, and access constraints often determine long‑term viability.I began my career in shipyards and naval architecture offices, working across hydrodynamics, stability, and structural assessment, before moving into large‑scale industrial shipbuilding and later offshore consulting. This has given me an understanding of how performance, regulatory requirements and real operating conditions interact.Recently my focus has shifted toward offshore renewable energy and maritime decarbonisation. I hold a Master’s degree in Renewable and Sustainable Energy, with a thesis focused on maritime decarbonisation, and I am currently involved in applying lifecycle and maintenance‑driven thinking to wave energy.My contribution is at the interface between design and operation: translating structural and hydrodynamic behaviour into realistic assumptions about inspection, maintenance, and long‑term operability. I am interested in collaborations where operational realities can inform early‑stage engineering and research, and where open, technically rigorous work supports the development of viable offshore renewable technologies.
