About Colette Acheson

I'm an experienced and versatile management professional, with 20 years hands-on providing planning, research and project management services to business, government and community organizations. Clients often comment on the value behind my results-oriented approach which has led to numerous successful and sustainable initiatives like- Our Journey - an anthology of family experiences and photos produced for Inclusion Lethbridge. I was very pleased to bring in corporate sponsors to cover the cost of the photography and the printing of the first print run. We had a big launch night with the Minister of Disability Services, many local businesses and great media coverage. Copies of the book went out to every PDD office across Alberta, and the book was also featured in the course materials for the Community Rehab program at Lethbridge College- The Word on the Street Festival Lethbridge Years 1 and 2 - this was a fantastic contract that showcased all my project management, community relations and guerilla marketing skills! We had advance media coverage on TV, radio, and both the newspaper and Lethbridge Living magazine. Advance promotions include two very different and hugely public flash mob events, along with more subtle promotions like roller derby girls zooming around Henderson Lake with the logo-ed event t-shirts. I loved the whole process, but one of my goals was to be really transparent and open in my interaction with the Library so that I was able to build a process model so they could then take on ownership of the Festival planning process for future years- Expansion planning for the Northern Lights School of Dance, who are now moving forward with their architect to build their new organizational forever home!
