About Connor Carpenter

I'm sure that you've heard of the stereotype that physics students are nerds who don't know how to talk to people. Well, I sure am a nerd, but I can talk your ear off about geeky things for hours! I'm a junior Java programmer that has a background in classical physics, currently studying at Tech Elevator. I began my educational career studying classical physics in college, and when COVID hit I decided to take a break from my school's online learning environment and join the workforce. I started working as a Customer Service Associate at Lowe's, and eventually found programming after a somewhat long period of inactivity on the subject. I've always enjoyed programming since taking classes on Java in high school, so I wondered if a job in software development was right for me. Soon enough, I found Tech Elevator and realized that it was the perfect way to begin my foray into the tech world! My experience as a student in physics has given me the opportunity to allow my mind practice with solving complex mathematical problems, so being able to supplement my work in programming with that knowledge is incredibly helpful. I love a logical puzzle, and welcome any opportunity to challenge my mind with a new problem! My time working in Lowe's has taught me how to handle a variety of situations from customer interactions to shelf-stocking-logistics, giving me experience dealing with particularly precarious customer complications and the general issues that arise with in-store product management. I'm excited to begin my new career in the tech industry where I can utilize these skills, and looking forward to wherever it may take me in the future!
