About Connor Grogan

Hello and thanks for taking the time! I'm Connor Grogan and am a current Master of Social Work student at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities with an anticipated graduation of May 2022. For my MSW, I am concentrating on clinical mental health and work with families and children. I hold my BA from Colorado State University with a degrees in International Studies (concentrated in Latin American studies), Spanish, and History. I began working at 14 by officiating youth sports (football, baseball, and basketball) and have continued for over 15 years. After completing undergraduate study, I began work in the criminal justice system at Larimer County Community Corrects as front-line staff at a halfway house. After about two years, I was promoted to a case management position with a different unit, Larimer County's AIIM program, Alternatives to Incarceration for Individuals with Mental Health needs, and Wellness Court, a treatment court designed as an alternative intensive program to keep mentally ill individuals out of prison and recovering in their communities. As a case manager, I provided direct criminal justice supervision to a caseload of over 40 individuals, led groups, and facilitated community interventions for my clients with SPMI (Severe and Persistent Mental Illness). I retained that position for a little over four years. That position inspired me to continue work in the mental health field, and I chose to leave the position to return to school full-time to pursue my MSW. My first internship in graduate school was an Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health (ARMHS) worker with Nystrom & Associates. I provided direct case management services and mental health coping skills in my clients' homes and communities. My clinical internship (and current position) is providing direct therapy to adolescents and young adults at the Relate Counseling Center in an outpatient setting.
