Failing at Becoming a Doctor Made Me a Better LawyerSince childhood, I've been driven by a deep desire to improve the lives of those around me, contributing to the betterment of New Brunswick and advancing Canada as a whole. For years, I believed that a career in medicine was the best path to achieve these goals.In 2014, I began my journey toward becoming a doctor by pursuing a degree in Human Kinetics and Nutrition at St. Francis Xavier University. After failing to secure a summer lab position between my first and second years, I found myself exploring a different path—one that felt equally natural as a bilingual New Brunswicker passionate about promoting our province. I became a Tour Guide with the Legislative AssemblyAs luck would have it, the Legislature was also short a Page during the final weeks before summer holidays and so began my love affair with law and policy. Over the subsequent years I joined health advisory boards, campaigned against bureaucratic policy changes, assisted with private members’ bills and revamped the bylaws of a registered charity. These experiences revealed the profound influence that policy and administrative processes have on the everyday lives of individuals.I left St.FX not only with a Bachelor of Science but with the newfound realization that my original commitment to make a difference in the lives of those around me had taken a new and exciting direction. Today I provide clients with the insight and guidance needed to navigate Canada’s increasingly complex administrative landscape. By analyzing the impact and legality of decisions made by statutory delegates, I help safeguard the rights of everyday citizens.My advocacy focuses on creating and implementing clear, transparent processes to ensure administrative decisions align with their statutory purpose and authority.I’m inspired by bold leaders who take decisive action to improve lives—visionaries like Barack Obama, Frank McKenna, and Louis J.
