About Corbin Pinto

Corbin Thomas Pinto graduated magnum cum laude from James Madison University with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education (voice) and earned her Master of Music degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a professional singer and is currently in the soprano section of the Virginia Chorale (has been for five years) and performed as a core soprano with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra Chorus for nine years. Corbin has sung as a soloist in numerous venues across Hampton Roads including soprano soloist with the Virginia Beach Symphonicity for Messiah. She also performed the role of Barbarina in Mozart's Marriage of Figaro with Tidewater Opera Initiative during the summer of 2015. Corbin is also an active and accomplished music educator and has developed a vibrant and recognized choral program at Tallwood and Bayside High School in Virginia Beach. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and currently serves as the VCDA choral representative for District II. She has conducted Virginia Beach's sixth grade All-City Chorus festival, adjuducated around the state, and her Tallwood Madrigals consistantly earn superior at assessments. In 2018 the Tallwood Madrigals performed at Carneige Hall. In 2011 her program at Tallwood was selected to host a master class by the world renowned vocal ensemble Chanticleer who appeared in cooperation with the Virginia Arts Festival. In 2012 her Tallwood Madrigals performed with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. A choral leader in the Virginia Beach school district, Corbin has taught professional development classes for faculty, hosted the 2010 District chorus festival, and served on committees to advance the choral art in the region's educational community. She is a private voice instructor and former conductor of the Virginia Children's Chorus Chamber Singers. Corbin is a member of MENC, VCDA, and Phi Kappa Phi. Corbin lives in Norfolk with her husband, daughter Alice, son Thomas, two dogs, and a cat.
