Stories that inspire. That's what I'm all about. I've spent 20 plus years involved in helping create a movement across the country speaking at thousands of schools through various programs. My name is Craig Scott, and I am a survivor of the Columbine shooting. I was in the room where 10 were killed including two friends next to me. I barely escaped only to learn my sister, Rachel Joy Scott, was the first killed. The story I've shared has prevented thousands of documented suicides and as well as a number of shootings all through the power of storytelling and lessons that touch on well-being, mental health, emotional resilience and many issues of the heart. My program helps bring everyone together and creates a sense of unity. Don't think that's possible with your group? Every time the story is shared, lives are changed. It's been my honor and privilege to do the work I do. One big lesson I learned from surviving is how important people are. Before my sister passed, she wrote a challenge to young people in an essay for class to step out in compassion and "start a chain reaction of kindness." I've given that challenge now to over a million students in live audiences. I've also become a go-to person in the news media concerning school violence and teen mental health issues. The best thing about my program is that it has a long-lasting impact. Along with my team, I have developed a comprehensive program that includes an assembly for the whole school to hear the story, student training, professional development for teachers and staff, and interactive curriculum (twenty 45-minute sessions on mental health, wholeness, and resilience) along with games and discussion questions - great for small groups. All of this helps the culture of a school. Many superintendents, principals, teachers, and students have said the presentation and program was the most powerful program they ever seen."My schools have not been the same since Craig Scott delivered his powerful program. It had a long-term cultural effect on my schools from elementary to high school. Students are being kinder, less disciplinary problems, a more positive workplace for the staff, and even a prevented suicide.
