Background
About Curley Newgent
Curley Newgent has been an advocate for survivors of sexual violence and childhood trauma for many years. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Family Science in 2018. Since then, she has been working in the field of training and community education with the Baltimore Child Abuse Center (BCAC). Curley trains and educates individuals all over the city, state, and country on the dynamics of trauma, abuse, and violence. She works with youth-serving organizations such as schools and summer camps to build a trauma-responsive, consent-based environment and develops conversations about how to protect young people from trauma. Curley trains adults, children, and youth, from diverse backgrounds and in a variety of settings on the neurobiology of trauma, the impact of abuse and violence, protective and resiliency factors, and on the healing and recovery process. In her free time, Curley enjoys cooking, listening to podcasts about capitalism and the patriarchy, and cultivating spaces for rest.
