About Cynthia Randles

With over 20 years of work experience in atmospheric and environmental sciences, I am a passionate and dedicated researcher and program manager who strives to advance the scientific understanding and policy action on methane emissions. As the MARS Program Manager and Inventory Advisor at UN Environment Programme, I lead a global initiative to support countries in using satellite observations to better understand and reduce their methane emissions from the oil and gas sector. I bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team, having worked with various stakeholders, including academia, industry, government, and civil society, in different regions and contexts. In my previous role as an Advanced Research Associate at ExxonMobil Research and Engineering, I managed a diverse portfolio of scientific work focused on methane emissions detection and quantification, remote sensing, climate and air quality modeling, and Life-Cycle Impact Assessment. I applied my analytical skills and aerosol science expertise to conduct innovative and impactful research that contributed to the company's sustainability and environmental goals. I also co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in prestigious journals and presented my findings at international conferences and workshops.
