Lived Experience:*Started my mental health journey as a service user, so I deeply understand the power dynamics and trust involved in therapy.*Community programs gave me the safety and stability to access the resources that led to earning my title. I acknowledge the privilege that comes with this and the responsibility I have to support those who are vulnerable.*I’m passionate about shifting from individual to collective support—therapy, community, and relational care—not just within therapy, but beyond. Formal Training: Self-in-Relationship Psychotherapy (SIRP) Clinical Supervision Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Trauma-Informed Care Level A Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) Present Roles: Individual & Couples Therapist: Helping clients bridge the psychological gap between their past, present, and ideal future selves. Approach: Pendulation, processing, and integration (developmental/psychodynamic/relational). Supporting clients in shifting from survival mode to conscious, responsive choice. Research: Procrastination & Emotion: Examining how emotional states, rather than just cognitive control, correlate with procrastination. Viewing it as an adaptive response to overwhelming tasks/demands shifts how we approach it in education, therapy, and life. Mandatory Indigenous Credits at Trent University: Exploring the impact on Indigenous staff, students, and incoming students. Academic Streaming & Systemic Oppression: Investigating how academic streaming perpetuates systemic inequality. Aspirations/Future Pursuits: Expanding clinical scope through supervision, consultation, and mentoring. Contributing to community-based research. Increasing outreach and advocacy. How the Ingredients Come Together: My lived experience, education, and research highlight how our context—such as upbringing, treatment by others (both individuals and institutions), and our responses—shapes who we are. At the core of this is the need for spaces and relationships that help us unlearn limiting patterns and rediscover ourselves. This is central to my approach, using the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for personal and relational change. Having sat on both sides of the room, I’m committed to creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and understood. I’m passionate about refining my role to make a difference inside and outside the therapy room—especially since access remains limited for so many. Now that you're in the know—let's grow!
