About Dan Saftig

Dan Saftig has enjoyed a successful 35-year career in fundraising, serving four large public universities and providing consulting services to dozens of colleges, universities and nonprofit organizations across the country. Dan provides fundraising consulting services through two different avenues - as principal of Dan Saftig Consulting, LLC, and as an Of Counsel Senior Advisor with Marts & Lundy. Dan prepares organizations for their largest fundraising campaigns in their respective histories. Since 2012, he has advised some 40 clients with campaign goals ranging from $25 million to over $1 billion. Dan is passionate about maximizing philanthropy through uncommon leadership and cohesive team performance. He is known as an outstanding coach, strategist, and mentor to many advancement leaders and their senior teams. Dan also earns the trust and confidence of university presidents, organization CEOs, volunteer leaders, and top donors. Dan's broad fundraising experiences are drawn from his leadership positions at Arizona State University, Iowa State University, the University of Minnesota, and Penn State University. Dan's early fundraising experience came with the American Heart Association in Wisconsin and California, and as an executive director for for CCS, a national consulting firm. Dan's career began as sports information director at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where he earned his bachelor's degree. He also holds a master's degree in nonprofit administration from the University of San Francisco. Dan is a John Maxwell-certified coach, trainer, and speaker on leadership and healthy and productive fundraising teams.
