About Dan Wenny

I am interested in all aspects of ornithology and avian ecology as a means of understanding biology, conservation, and the world around us. Topics I am especially interested in include frugivory and seed dispersal, molt and migration, and ecosystem services. I have done research in Costa Rica, Florida, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, and California in a range of habitats including tropical cloud forest, temperate deciduous forest, grassland habitats of various types, and montane meadows. My work on ecosystem services is part of an international collaboration and involves creating, maintaining, and using global biodiversity and ecological databases for unique analyses to address regional and global questions in ecology and conservation. I have taught a wide range of college biology courses including Introductory Biology, Environmental Biology, Avian Biology, Biostatistics, and Human Anatomy & Physiology. I especially like courses with a field component and have assisted with off-campus programs. I also have experience in the non-profit sector and as a volunteer with public programs and citizen science projects.
