Background

About Daniel Buckley

With more than 40 years of experience as a trial lawyer and judge, I bring a rare combination of courtroom expertise, leadership, and practical insight to my role as a mediator and arbitrator with Signature Resolution. I spent over two decades as a judge on the Los Angeles Superior Court, including service as Presiding Judge of the largest trial court in the nation from 2017 to 2018. In that role, I oversaw more than 580 judges and employees while guiding the court through significant advancements in technology and judicial administration. My judicial career also included assignments as Supervising Judge of the Civil Department, Assistant Presiding Judge, and service in the Complex Courts, where I handled high-profile and high-value cases such as Riot Games, the USC Tyndall matter, and the UCLA Heaps litigation. Before my appointment to the bench in 2002, I practiced for more than 20 years at Breidenbach, Buckley, Huchting, Halm & Hamblet, where I focused on toxic torts, professional negligence, personal injury, and insurance coverage. I served as co-lead trial attorney for the State of California in the landmark Newman v. Stringfellow toxic tort litigation, one of the largest cases of its kind at the time, involving over plaintiffs. In addition to my trial and judicial work, I have been a longtime adjunct professor at Notre Dame Law School, Loyola Law School, and USC Gould School of Law, teaching trial advocacy and civil procedure. I have also instructed countless judicial education programs on evidence, ethics, and courtroom management. My contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including Judge of the Year honors from CAALA and the Pasadena Bar Association, and the Judicial Civility Award from ABOTA. Practice Areas: Business and Commercial Contracts | Catastrophic Injury | Class Actions | Complex Litigation | Construction | Eminent Domain | Employment | Entertainment | Insurance | Intellectual Property | Mass Tort | Premises Liability | Real Estate
