About Dany Vohl

I work at the intersection of astrophysics, data systems, and modern radio telescopes — leading efforts to extract physical insight from high-throughput observations. My research focuses on population and environment of compact objects (neutron stars, black holes). I design and implement large-scale data systems for radio astronomy, with a focus on signal processing, transient searches, catalog cross-matching, and VLBI calibration. These methods drive studies of pulsars and fast radio bursts (FRBs), compact astrophysical sources that offer precise tracers of magnetospheric physics, compact binaries, and the structure of matter between galaxies. I have contributed design and solution scaling to end-to-end workflows for observatories like the International LOFAR Telescope, the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope, as well as the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, enabling high-cadence searches across large sky areas. These pipelines are central to discovery — designed to extend the limits of sensitivity, time resolution, and coverage. Over the past decade, I have contributed to collaborations including ALERT, DWF, and EuroFlash, combining domain knowledge with infrastructure to deliver both results and frameworks the community can build on. Trained in Australia, originally from Québec, Canada, and now based in the Netherlands, I bring a cross-continental perspective to solving scientific problems.
