About Darius Kretschmann

Since September 2021 I have been working as Junior Mechanical Test Engineer at Sauber Motorsport in Hinwil, Switzerland, which is the home of the Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber. After I had completed my studies in Motorsport Engineering, I wanted to pursue a career in research & development. Using my abilities in 3D CAD, FE, technical manufacturing and validation of parts, processes, and data, I have been working at the Formula 1 Team for three years. I started contributing to the team by improving the analysis tools for several different tests, and by organizing & performing validation tests together with the designers of the parts. I led the team to substantial progress by applying, calibrating & measuring strain gages on many different parts & materials as well as improving their positioning in 3D CAD to increase the reliability of the sensors. Validating huge amounts of data gained by testing and measuring parts and materials of the race car, by relating them to FE results, are part of everyday work. I realized, the dream I will pursue is the application of my skills in designing & calculating prototype parts and performing practical tests with these at a high professional company. I love working in a team and I am always happy to take responsibility and to go for the extra mile. My great curiosity is a driving force behind my passion for engineering. Testing and optimizing the parts of the future while exploring new technical advancements in theoretical and practical application at the R&D-facilities of a progressive company is my main objective.
