About Darrah Wolfe

I am LIKE a fruit tree that has been grafted many times. Grafting is the process of connecting two (or more) different varieties of trees to grow as one. The result is a tree of combined attributes that do not naturally occur in a single tree. At the root, I am an engineer with many of the attributes one might expect – I am curious, creative, and a critical thinker. I have a collaborative spirit and an eye for detail. Problems are my playscape – my mind is happiest absorbing knowledge, linking ideas and building innovative solutions. I am good at noticing small but important things that other people might miss. I like to make things better. Amidst my engineering career I grafted my first branch by completing an ICF accredited coach training program. Here I learned how to transition from the role of technical expert into a leader who coaches and empower others to discover their own solutions – this was like fertilizer for building engaged and motivated teams which contributed to outperforming KPIs. Next, I noticed variances in team performance that could not be explained through the data typically collected. I set out to learn why. In doing so, I grafted on my second branch having completed a Masters of Applied Positive Psychology and gained a deeper understanding of the science of human behavior and evidence-based practices that allow teams and individuals to thrive. Because of cross-pollination, the apples a grafted tree produces will be uniquely different apples than had they grown on separate trees. When in combination, although not always predictable, the resultant attributes are often more desirable (better taste, increased hardiness, or yield). I am an engineer. I am a behavioral science coach. I am also a creative learning strategist. Those are but a few of my grafted branches that in combination provide the teams and organizations I work with bounteous benefit!
