About Dashmesh Singh

My name is Dashmesh Singh. I'm currently a junior at Baruch College in NYC majoring in Finance with an intended minor in Real Estate. Professionally, I am an aspiring CRE professional looking to cover the debt side of a CRE investments role. Outside of preparing for a CRE career and school, I love to play basketball, play Tabla, be outdoors, go biking, and play Dilruba. Initially, when I first got to Baruch, I intended to enter a traditional finance role. Through hard work and preparation, I was accepted into the most prestigious finance club at Baruch College, the Investment Management Group (IMG) which has an acceptance rate of ~7%. IMG is a completely student-run wealth management style club that manages $1.1M in the stock market. Throughout my time at the club, I gained valuable experience working with Excel and Powerpoint, conducted immense amounts of research into the company pitches consisting of market overviews, company overviews, investment rationale, a DCF analysis, among others. However, even after having all of this experience and enjoying everything I was doing, it was still difficult for me to find my exact reason for why I want to pursue this field professionally. At the same time that I was at IMG, I was also working for a real estate firm part-time. It was through this firm that I gained an initial exposure in real estate, which was also when I decided to explore the field further. During my sophomore year winter semester, I was able to land an opportunity at a CRE and PE boutique firm which gave me the opportunity to blend my newfound interest for CRE with my love for excel. It was through this internship that my interest turned into a passion. A couple of things I loved about real estate included the fact that it is a socially-driven industry, the investments can be so versatile and unique, and the fact that there are so many different avenues inside of RE, in the sense that there is something for everyone. Finding what I loved about real estate made it easy for me to want to pursue this career path which was why in the spring semester, I joined Project Destined (PD) as an intern. PD helped further expand my network, leading me to my sophomore summer internship at CIM Group. Currently, I am leading Team PGIM Real Estate with Project Destined. After all of my past experience I've been extremely lucky to have, I am thankful for every opportunity that has come my way, and for all of the people that have made my journey such an interesting one to watch unfold.
