About Dave Blundell

Since October 2019, I have been the Police Care UK Engagement Officer. My role is to manage relationships with stakeholders and other organisations across the UK, to raise awareness of what Police Care UK do and who we help, raise awareness of the harm policing can do, and assist all police forces to reduce the impact of harm on their colleagues. Police Care is entirely independent. We never share any personal information, and any communication between us and out beneficiaries is entirely confidential. We assist serving and former police colleagues, whether they are police officers, police staff, or police volunteers, and we assist the immediate families of police colleagues. Police Care UK is a member of the Police Charities UK group. Prior to this, I was a Metropolitan and City of London Police (Region 8) representative on the National Board of The Police Federation of England and Wales. My portfolio of responsibilities included - the PFEW lead for Roads Policing, Ill-Health retirement and injury awards, and the Police Charities UK portfolios. I sat on the Operational Policing, and Health and Safety sub-committees, Equality board, and I chaired the Wellbeing sub-committee. As a Police Inspector with over 30 years service (29 operational), policing experience in London, I led large teams of officers and staff to deliver policing services, including crime reduction, enforcement, prevention, intelligence, Health & Safety, and engagement. I have hands-on experience in management, HR, organisation, command and control, investigation, and administration. I have managed large budgets, human resources functions, and driven performance. I have managed disciplinary and misconduct procedures, but have also represented and provided professional advice to people on criminal, misconduct and performance issues. I have also managed many difficult welfare issues amongst my staff. I have a proven record of honesty, integrity, reliability, and performance under difficult and challenging circumstances, with the ability to make sound ethical decisions. I am proud to have found creative solutions to equality issues in the workplace, and improved the workplace for others, to the benefit of the organisation.
