I have been a senior manager in the Council since 1991. During this time I have had or currently have responsibility for: o Leisure Management Client Function (C.C.T.) o Capital Projects o A Sports Development Unit o Four Dual use Sports Facilities o Youth and Play Service o Music Education Service o Quality Assurance Systems ( ISO 9002 & Quest) o Health and Safety Management in high risk areas. o Emergency Duty Manager Currently I am a member of Trading Services management team and the strategic lead for implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Active St.Helens, the borough’s framework for sport and physical activity. I have operational accountability for the Sports Development Team, Indoor and Outdoor Sports Facilities, I have significant experience of leading on programmes that maximise the impact of major events such as the 2012 Olympics, 2013 Rugby League World Cup, 2014 Commonwealth Games using them as a catalyst to increase participation in sport and physical activity in the Borough. I have significant experience in the management of strategic capital bids and their execution, to ensure they are delivered within agreed timescales and budget and meet funding bodies requirements. The provision of technical advice on the planning and development of sporting facilities within the borough to; Council Officers, Private Developers and the Voluntary Sector. During my career history, I have been responsible for a number of self- contained business units. The management of these areas has required the development of a range of skills including financial, personnel and resource management but probably the most valuable skill I feel I have developed is that of managing change, both internally and externally.
