About David J. Stanton

I am the Senior Director of Alumni Relations at Hillsdale College where I lead a team of dedicated professionals focused on engagement of alumni and our alma mater, student-alumni relations, annual alumni giving, and connecting alumni in our growing professional networks by industry and focus area. Previously, I had the honor to serve as Headmaster of Oakdale Academy, a Classical Christian school for Pre-K through grade 12 in Michigan that serves 180 students and over 100 families. In over a quarter century in education, I have worked in public and private schools as a teacher and administrator as well as an adjunct professor and lecturer at several universities for graduate and doctoral students. I retired from the US Navy (Reserve), having served since 2001 both as an enlisted Sailor (3 years) and as a Commissioned Officer (18 years) with service at different Combatant and Service commands along with two overseas mobilizations/deployments - to Afghanistan (Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan, Kabul in 2007) and to Bahrain (US Naval Forces Central Command, US FIFTH Fleet in 2021). I retired having achieved the rank of Commander. I hold degrees in history (BA from Hillsdale College), curriculum and instruction (MA from Central Michigan University), and leadership (Ed. Specialist and Doctor of Education from Liberty University), along with professional military educational diplomas (US Naval War College and Joint Forces Staff College), and a certificate in pastoral counseling (Liberty University).
